Our Dear Students

Dear Friends,

You know what I need more of? Our students! I can never get enough. Especially because I am tied down by meetings, budgets, reports and all that grown-up stuff. Not that I don't love those things too (I know. But I do love all of it! I'm a nerd!). Yeah, today really left me wanting more of our delightful kids: More math! The 6th graders were deep in "productive struggle"  over a fractions brain buster. It was very "edge of your seat" stuff. Super Primes were getting ready for an art/social project that involved orange markers, representing their feelings, and a listening to playlist they'd made together. I mean, dreamy or what? Mups were diligently working on Where I'm From  poems, which if you haven't tried writing you should! Dancing Primes were scooting down the hall on their bikes in a way that made me grin from ear to ear. 8th graders were doing vocabulary by creating visual slides for each other: one was a Magic the Gathering card illustrating the meaning of the word "negate." And... I had visits to my office from 3 different students, one of whom wanted to know if I needed help with anything (!) and one who wanted to sit and play with my bowl of fidgets while telling me all about Dune 2... which I definitely prefer to ever having to see the movie! And then there were the adorable Uppers who stood in the reception area first thing this morning to greet their friends with hugs and "what took you so longs"!

Dear, dear, dear ones, all of them.

And all the feels,

Charlie Spencer, Head of School
