Capital Campaign - Loving School, Lasting Change

So much has happened! It’s an amazing story actually.  We had just acquired 30 acres of stunning land, and were dreaming of our new school building and campus AND enacting our social justice mission; combining ages for engaging activities, learning tons of new ideas, spending lots and lots of time in nature, when March of 2020 hit. We entered a new reality; instantly adapting, making our specialness virtual, braving Zoom boxes, making arts and crafts and singing together while apart. We found refuge in the fresh air, adapting our beloved traditions to the elements, with a year of school under party tents. Meanwhile, as if there wasn’t enough happening, we broke ground on the site of our new school. We piloted our Forest Classroom, which from August-June spent only 2 hours in total indoors. The new building loomed as both distant dream and increasing reality, giving us something to look forward to during a year of constant flexing and pivoting, while always prioritizing the Center School student experience. Our mantra throughout?

“The Show Must GO On.”

Hence, we moved out of our buildings on Montague City Road in June of 2021 and that fall we proudly, grandly opened our gorgeous new building on Bernardston Rd, amid developing Covid protocols. Our intrepid, devoted teachers gave their all, taking so much pride and time to get us to this moment. And with the grand opening came 45 new families and 60 new kids and 6 new teachers! Our founders and families helped christen the new building in our inimitable, wild and wooly Center School way, abundant with hopes and dreams. Mountain Day happened on a new mountain! Educational field trips resumed! All School and other traditions were reintroduced in new spaces.

Thank you for giving to the Capital Campaign, which will ensure that this $10,500,000 project is paid for!  The Center School has never felt better!
