The Center School is looking for a very special person: someone who can work with kids 4-14 and also with adults, in our school office, handling reception, phones, data entry, caring for sick or injured students, organizing our 2 day per week lunch program. Experience with children, office work, and First Aid and CPR certification are required. Knowledge of Google Suite, Excel, and social media preferred. This is a part time position, 15-20 hours per week during the regular school day. Hourly rate: $15.
Assistant Preschool Teacher
The Center School Preschool is seeking an assistant preschool teacher as a parental leave substitute from February-May. Strong candidates have studied early childhood education, and are passionate about working with our youngest Center School students. This classroom is designed to feel like a second home, where children feel free and safe to explore and develop at their own pace. We are a play-based program with teacher-led as well as emergent curriculum planning practices. Teachers in the Littles classrooms also have a strong connection to the mission of the larger Center School, and place a high value on teaching social skills and a sense of justice in all classrooms.
Age of children - 18 months to 4 years
*assisting with essential care for children’s daily needs - feeding, diapering, potty training, napping, basic first aid as needed
*creating and caring for a dynamic, developmentally appropriate classroom that feels cozy and allows for children to make choices, take reasonable risks, and feel comfortable and loved
*maximizing children’s time spent outside, in all weather
*documenting children’s work via notes and photos
*collaborating with co-teachers and director on curriculum, as well as the daily operations of the classroom
*CPR and First Aid required
The hours of the job are approximately 30-40 per week. There are some early (7:45-3:45) and late (9-5) days, 4-5 days per week depending on staffing levels. The pay is hourly.
