Parent/guardian involvement is a subject on many minds at this time of year. Often parents worry that they can't fit in time to answer some of our requests for volunteering. The teachers and I all feel strongly that being involved in your kids' school can take many different forms. We want to assure you that we realize not everyone can drive for field trips or come in for All School. We want you to know that it's okay. Parent/Guardian involvement can be helping your child pack lunches and snacks, driving them to school, helping with homework. It can be giving a gift to the annual fund, joining the Parent Union, attending a JED meeting, or contributing clothing or food for a service project. Parents and guardians have come in and spoken to students about their experience as immigrants, decorated the All School room for an admissions open house, or sent in a birthday snack for the class. Any and all efforts are appreciated and there is no hierarchy of involvement. When we ask for help as a school, we are always aware of how busy and hardworking you all are. Truly, we get it.
That said, I do hope you will be able to come to All School Welcome next Tuesday evening. This event is for parents, guardians, grandparents, aunties, god parents, caregivers, etc etc. We love to have folks come see what's happening in the classrooms. So no matter how long you've been at the Center School or how well you think you know this place, we promise there will be some "aha" moments at All School Welcome, as we do fun academic and social activities, share snacks and wine, sing, meet board members, staff, parent reps, and more! Please get a babysitter and come. If you can't find childcare, try to send a proxy. I promise it will be a blast.
Hope to see you soon.
