Lauren, Continued from page 1

Burial I (oil on canvas)

College, where she earned a BA in Fine Arts.

Lauren has studied different media including painting, fiber arts, sculpture, and video. She has also studied Art History, which she says has given her a helpful under-standing of the context in which she’s working. She says, “It’s important to be aware of what’s been done before. I want to contribute to the art world in a respectful and educated way. If I'm going to make reference to a technique or image from the past, I want to do it in an informed and deliberate way. So Art History has been really useful to me.”

Lauren's work is now on display in area galleries. The paintings pictured here (Burial I and Klamath, CA, 1998 ) can be seen at Green Trees Gallery in Northfield , MA. Lauren also currently has paintings at the Windham Gallery in Brattleboro, VT, McNeill’s Brewery (Brattleboro), Mocha Joe’s (Brattleboro), and starting in April, she will have work hanging at Café Coco in Greenfield, MA.
